Acupuncture originated in China and has evolved over the years into many different approaches. Each approach has a different flavour and emphasis, however all use acupuncture needles inserted into the skin for healing to happen. I trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture.

You are like an orchestra with many different parts all interacting to maintain life. Sometimes a section becomes congested, over or under activated. The aim of the acupuncturist is to tap into the rhythm of the body like a conductor, by inserting needles, to conduct various points along the channels, thereby regulating your system to a better way of functioning.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

We begin with you talking about your reason for coming. The treatment will be influenced by what you need. For instance if you come with a physical pain I will look at your range of movement and feel around the area looking for tenderness before the acupuncture treatment.  I can also incorporate massage techniques and we can look at specific exercises to improve your strength and mobility. If your reason for coming is related to stress or anxiety we can focus on breathing and relaxation techniques alongside your treatment. I offer various options for the structure of the session allowing you the opportunity to decide which feels best for you.

People respond differently.

Common experiences are a dull ache, tingling and temperature changes. After the session you may feel sleepy, hungry or energised.

WHAT DOES IT TREAT?

There is theory and potential for acupuncture treating nearly everything. Acupuncture has been clinically proven to treat some conditions particularly migraine and low back pain.

I am experienced and interested in:

• Physical aches & pains such as sports injuries and arthritis.

• Stress & anxiety related conditions such as sleep and eating disorders.

• Neurological conditions such as strokes.

• Auto-immune disorders.

• Issues affecting the elderly.

• Gynaecological issues such as period pain.

People respond differently during the acupuncture some feel nothing and others feel a lot. Common experiences are a dull ache, tingling and temperature changes. After the session you may feel sleepy, hungry or energised.

GOOD TO KNOW:

With most problems the sooner they are recognised and addressed the less deep rooted and easier they are to treat. Generally acupuncture is not a quick fix and it is recommended to have a minimum of 3 treatments to get a sense of whether it might be effective for you.

All acupuncture needles are single-use and incinerated afterwards. Therefore there is no risk of transmitting blood-borne diseases.

As a member of the British Acupuncture Council I adhere to their code of conduct and all your information is strictly confidential.
